PCNL Kidney stone laparoscopic surgery
In the past, kidney stone treatment for some patients may have encountered problems and obstacles in treatment, such as frequent occurrence of new stones, requiring surgery after surgery, or stones that are too large or too large to be treated with stone lithotripsy. However, at present, technology has advanced, allowing kidney stone treatment to be performed without surgery.
The treatment for kidney stones has been continuously developed, with the most well-known method being “stone lithotripsy” (ESWL: Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy), which can cure patients without surgery. However, there are limitations that make it inappropriate for all patients, such as in cases where the stones are large, hard, or shattered in small amounts, requiring multiple lithotripsy, taking a long time to treat, and requiring surgery for many patients. Therefore, a new innovation called PCNL has been invented.
Kidney stones
Kidney stones are more common in industrialized countries than in agricultural countries. Kidney stones are usually caused by very concentrated urine and precipitate into stones, usually occurring in the kidneys in the renal pelvis. When the stones fall into the ureter, there will be immediate stomach pain and pain. It is found that when it is a stone, the chance of it recurring is about half within 5-10 years. 80 percent of patients can have stones come out by themselves if the stone is smaller than 4 millimeters.
Treatment of kidney stones by laparoscopic surgery (PCNL)
PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) is "entering the kidney with a camera to remove stones". It is a new option for treating kidney stones without surgery. It is another attempt to overcome various diseases with the least injury from treatment. It can be used as a substitute for "stone dissolution". PCNL treatment method is to use a camera to enter the kidney to remove stones through a small hole, only one hole in the patient's back. In the process of using a camera to remove stones from the kidney, the surgeon will consider choosing the appropriate location to use the camera by using the Fluoroscope tool to determine the coordinates and then drill a small hole about 1 centimeter, which is as small as a keyhole (Key-hole Surgery) to be a channel for inserting the Nephroscope into the kidney. When the stone is found The surgeon will break the stone into small pieces using the Lithoclast Lithotripsy tool and clamp the stone out of the body through the same hole. The advantage of PCNL treatment is that patients will receive treatment with a method that is as effective in removing stones as open surgery, but with much less injury from the treatment.
PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) is a kidney stone treatment method that was developed to avoid surgery and is less harmful to the body. It uses tools and equipment to drill a small hole through the skin into the renal pelvis and then uses a camera to look for the stone in the kidney until the stone is found. Then, tools are inserted to grind the stone into small pieces and tools and equipment are used to suck or clamp the stone out. With this stone treatment method, patients will have a small wound of about 1-2 cm. compared to an open surgical wound that is 15-20 cm long. The wound is therefore less painful, resulting in a recovery time in the hospital of only 3-5 days after surgery. Moreover, patients can return to work as usual faster than with open surgery.
